Where have you been?

I flatter myself that you are asking this question.

Since I last posted, I have been in NYC, Virginia, NYC, Montreal, NYC, Virginia, Montreal, NYC, Montreal, Virginia, NYC, Boston, NYC, and now again Virginia.
It looked like this.
I came back to NYC from Montreal to animate for my friend Zack Handler on what promises to be a really beautiful film called Pariatha. It is part stop-motion, part live-action, and we had a great lil crew for the stop motion part (Me, Zack, and the talented Mitchell Zemil)  Zack draws some really wild creatures, and it was super cool to work with him and see how he imagined them moving. We had ball and socket armatures covered in clay, and we animated almost entirely on ones.

Also, while I was in Boston, I decided to learn Maya. Here's what I did to Batman when I tried that:

In other news, a film I did stop-motion for two years ago is making the rounds at festivals. We had a fantastic team of people working on this, and everyone really busted their asses on it so it's exciting to see how well it turned out! In fact, it has been nominated for a Student Academy Award this year in the alternative category. Winners are announced on August 24th, also known as Monday.

It is called Girl in the Chair and was directed by a man with a vision named Louis Gordon. Have a look at the teaser:
